My Pri-Lim Task - (CONTENTS PAGE)
Before I had to start my Music Magazine, I was asked to produce a School Magazine which was my Pri-Lim task at the beginning of my year doing Media Studies... Looking back at this task and what I had produced it seemed now that looking at this and what I produced in my Music Magazine I've come so far, I've be able to use Photoshop confidently.
FEEDBACK FROM MY TEACHERS ON MY DPS
Before handing in my final DPS, I had tried different layouts of my DPS. Once I thought it looked good enough to hand in as a near enough final piece, I handed it into my teachers to mark and help me with what improvements I can change to develop my DPS to become more of a good standard.
Here are some of my teachers notes written on a print out of my DPS, pictures zoomed in to show what was written.
This notes from my teacher helped me develop my DPS to become more attractive. I found it very helpful and gave me another chance to show my ability in working with Photoshop.

Evaluations Q1 - TITLE's
This was one of a few titles which became my music magazines name 'RHYME'.
This was my final choice of the font which i tried to match the font style near enough to the font that i used on my front cover.
This screen shot of 'MAKE IT REAL' was a slogan/heading which was based on the 'double page spread'. I had looked all over different websites over the internet and i came across a website called 'Dafont'. This website allowed me to type in what i wanted to feature on my pages, and i have the choices from diffrernt styles to pick one and to edit the text to blend into my page to look like a perfect fit.
The screen shot which is shown above the text shows the change/developement from how it looked to where it looked after i had made sure i sticked to my colour scheme; RED, GOLD/BROWN, BLACK AND WHITE.

Evidence on other DPS, comparing mine to others
All three DPS's have 4 columns which I've also included on my DPS. Looking at other magazines some have 3 columns but i wanted my DPS to have 4 to fit more information onto the page plus to have mix combinations with rock layout of their DPS to how a R&B layout would look.
Here is my DPS:
Questions and Answers to DPS
DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD
1) What influenced you to pursue your career in music?
At an early age around 6 years old I remember dancing in front of the TV, especially when a TV advert used to come on I used to jump up and down singing along to the adverts music. I used to take the TV control and use it as a microphone. I’m guessing that it used to keep me occupied but I was a hyper active child even if I must say. Hahahaa (laughs non-stop). As a child I always wanted to be apart of a group or join the choir so I remember myself begging my parents to join anything that was to do with music related. From a young age I had passion for music and now look where I am. Music helped me with difficult times, it made me feel part of something, and it was a get away from all the past. I don’t know what I would be without it being in my life, creating music which my fans can relate to and have some kind of connect with me.
2) Who were your role models before your career as an artist?
Well were should I start from? (A cheeky giggle sound appears) I have quit a lot that I like such as; Whitney Houston which I used to look up to from a young age as she was like a queen to me, a very attractive woman which always knew where to go with her music career. When I heard about her death it was a shock to me as I always wanted to be like her, successful and the way she died was very upsetting. Beyonce is another artist which I adore because she is unique, although she’s not the only artist which is unique but the way she presents herself draws my attention to her, her dance movements and her energy shows her confidence as when I look at myself, confidence was a major issue for me. Looking at her made me want to create a new beginning to my life after having difficulty paths to walk over. But one artist which I’ve now got close with is Rihanna; what she went through which I don’t want to go into her personal life, but all I can say is that I can relate to her and I give her sympathy for how strong she had been. It just shows how artist have been through hard times in their past but looking back I feel stronger than ever. Its like life’s the best test you could ever experience!
3) What tips would you give your fans on succeeding in their dream career?
Well for a first believing that there is a possible way to succeed in reaching your dream career is possible but you must have to believe that there is a chance of happening. Don’t allow anyone to stand in front of your dream; don’t allow them to stop you from achieving something your passionate about. And giving up isn’t worth it, working hard will pay off but if you don’t reach your dream career then all I will say is that it’s not meant to be. Just keep searching for something new, learning new skills never ends as life teaches us new things to carry with us along the journey of being independent.
4) Everyone agrees you are a beautiful women. What’s your secret?
(Constantly laughs her head off) Ohhh I donno where to start, sorry I can’t stop laughing. All I can say is that I believe that being beautiful isn’t everything, it doesn’t get you far in life – well that’s my opinion and I respect anyone that disagrees with me. I believe that every girl and boy is beautiful from their inner skin, their heart, their soul. Looking at the outer side of a person doesn’t show how their truth self is. But those that wear too much make-up is something I’m against, there’s no need for loads of it, looking natural is much more me although I do have to wear more make-up than I would want to.
5) How does it feel to be a role model for so many people?
It’s an amazing feeling to know that my music makes the public happy and that I try my best to let everyone know how hard to work to produce the best music for my fans, without them I wouldn’t be here, wouldn’t live my dream. Its not called repaying them back, I enjoy making people happy because seeing them happy makes me feel proud. As I said before that I had my role models and how they helped me believe in life, I’m hoping that I do the same. Although I don’t feel like a role model, I just feel like a normal girl which is following her dreams. But who wouldn’t like to be a role model, I just hope that I’m doing a good job of being a role model.
6) Who would you collaborate with if you were able to pick?
To be honest I couldn’t choose out of so many artists, hmmm let me have a think… (Melisa thinking). Nikki Minaj as she is very creative and has her own fashion style, known for her hair colour and her rapping. I could imagine having a lot of fun with. Ne-Yo which would be interesting to collaborate with from her dance movements, I could visually see myself in a dance studio practicing dance routines and then featured in a video clip with him with out single. That would be very interesting as I’ve met him before at a gathering party.
7) What inspired you to write this single ‘Change is the new me’?
While I was going through tough times I used to write quit a lot of stories and lyric when I needed to let steam out of express my feelings. I used to find it hard to talk to people about how I felt so instead I used to carry my note book around. ‘Change is the new me’ was one of the lyrics which I wrote back in the day, now I look back at the note book it does seem depressing but then it was the only way of feeling better. But now that it’s out for the fans to listen to, I feel as if this album is my past story which from being shy to being confident to express my story through my songs makes me feel as if I have realised a huge amount of emotions.
8) Where do your inspirations come from to produce the lyrics?
The places where I felt most comfortable and safe was when I was alone sitting on the deck at my college, it seems strange but it helped me write as If I knew what I was writing about. For some artists it doesn’t seem as easy to write lyrics, but with me it was like a diary, I normally pick out the most important part of my life and that’s how I’ve made the album seem as a step by step guide to my life.
9) Do your lyrics relate to your past and your life stories?
I’d normally seem shy to talk about my past life but getting help from my family members and friends helped me get through those hard times. When I was ready to move on I chose to express my life into my lyrics which now I feel more confident than I used to be. Everyone goes through tough times in their life, I really hope that if there are fans that feel that their on their own that listening to my music will help them feel cared about even though I’m not physically with them, I want to have some kind of connection with my fans, I no how it feels to be alone so I’m hoping that I’ve made it clear to everyone how caring I am not only to my friends and family but also my fans are a part of my life.
10) Have you ever felt judged by other artists or people whom you didn’t get along with?
I think what I’ve learnt from life is that being strong comes within you when your ready to express your true self. I’ve been through ups and downs with a family member and before they used to say how I wouldn’t be successful which I think was a major let down for me. When I needed support with what I wanted to do in life it wasn’t there when I most needed it. But I did my best to move on and prove them wrong. And look where I am now, living my dream as an artist.
11) Now you’ve been noticed but the public, do you get chatted up by the lads?
Yeah I do most times I get shy but I forget that I’m not that shy girl no more, I’m being noticed because I’m now in the music industry and people will recognize me. Though I’m currently in a relationship and I like to keep my relationship between me and my boyfriend, it’s nice to be noticed although my mr gets quit jealous even though he doesn’t like to admit it, well I guess us ladies know how to get our men jealous.
12) What would be the weirdest thing you’ve ever read about yourself?
Well I was at a party with some friends and there were quit a lot of celebrities, this was when I got close with Rihanna. I tried this new mix with vodka and something else which my friends still to this day haven’t told me what was mixed with the vodka drink I had. Apparently I got drunk but what was funny about that night was that I’m normally the type to look after others when they get drunk but this time it was the other way around. Lucky that my boyfriend wasn’t around but now knows what happened, this was way before I met my man. I went up to one artist, and started to shout out saying how they stole my lyric and other silly stuff but if ended up to be a small argument which ended calmly but the funny thing was that I didn’t remember anything to do with that night. All the information I’m telling RHYME is from my friends explain every detail to me. How embarrassed I was when I had to meet up with the artist I had the argument with but things are all good, thank god.
13) That is very random! How did you manage to contain your anger?
Well knowing me I must have said some naughty things that I hardly remember saying. Going back to my past I did have issues to control my emotions and anger but now it’s all good, I’m able to control my anger even though I’m scared that the old me will return. Having the support from my partner allows me to feel safe and worth living for. The argument wasn’t big, even if it became a big deal I know how to control my anger, if you had saw me doing my breathing technique you would fall down to the fall. Some of my friends say how I breath like a mad women, but I know it was because I was drunk – its not a excuse trust me (we see a cheeky side to Melisa as she goes quit and then starts to laugh again, bless)
14) If you were single, who would your top 3 choices of male celebrities be?
Well I’ve always have had the hots for Shia la Boef and Tom Hardy also Paul Wesley from ‘Vampire Diaries’. Like who wouldn’t want a man that isn’t one of these guys. No offense to my mr but all I can say peeps is that my mr looks like all three guys in different ways I guess that’s why I took my time to find the right guy just for me.
15) If you had three wishes to use, what would they be?
Well firstly I would love to have a chocolate fountain surrounding my garden as I’m such a chocoholic. Secondly walk in wardrobe would be heaven for me, I have so much clothes, shoes, jewellery, hats, scarves, make-up etc. without these I wouldn’t feel like a women, only females would understand what I’m trying to say. And last of all to be happy with a large family of my own without having to worry of arguments.
16) What’s your ideal man like? This might be helpful to those single lads out there that have the hots
for you Melisa?
Well lads (a few laughs and there) if I was to be single I would be looking for tall guy, works out, has some muscles, not body hair, must dress well because if you have to be walking with me you must have a good idea of style, has to make me smile with his jokes, I mainly look at the personality first but lets not lie we all look at the looks first and then the rest. Culture doesn’t matter but he has to respect mine, although I’ve live in England all my life and I’m Turkish, I love learning about other cultures. I’m so happy with myself, looking back at where I came from to how happy I have become.

What i was up to in today's lesson
Today was the final day of hand in, FRONT COVER, CONTENTS PAGE and the DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD. I had the chance to add and change things on all pages using the program 'PhotoShop' and its tools to create my final pieces. I made sure that i asked as many people that could help me develop the final touches to all pieces before i handed in all my final pieces to my teachers to annotate and write about what i could develop further.
Feedback on column lines
I wanted to ask as many people as possible if they like the lines on the DPS or without.
WITH THE LINES
WITH THE LINES
WITHOUT THE LINES
Most people said they liked the DPS without the lines.
